My student keeps cancelling the day before lessons. How can I address this?
Occasionally, we hear tutors complain that a student regularly cancels (or reschedules) the day before their lesson. This can be problematic as it can prevent the time slots from being booked by someone else. In this situation, you may want to copy the message below and email it to your student (reply to any booking email to contact them):
I have noticed that recently, lessons are frequently being canceled or rescheduled at the last moment. While, of course, you are absolutely within your rights to make changes up to 24 hours before the lesson, I do find that when it happens often, it creates challenges on my end. It not only limits my ability to accommodate other students who are looking for available slots but also impacts my schedule and income.
I completely understand that things can get busy, and sometimes schedules are hard to manage. If you feel that your availability is uncertain right now, it might be helpful to take a short break until you feel more confident about your schedule. This way, when you are ready to resume, we can plan for consistent lessons that work well for both of us.
If you'd prefer to continue now, I kindly ask that we try to set a more consistent schedule going forward to avoid frequent changes. If there is anything I can do to help you figure out the best approach, please don't hesitate to let me know.
Thank you so much for your understanding, and I hope we can find a solution that works best for you.
