Does Langua have a mobile app?

This year, we’ve quickly gone from 0 to 5,000 subscribers. But some of you have experienced compatibility issues between your web browsers and the audio/recording technologies we rely on.

So we’ve been working hard to build mobile apps, and now, an early version is ready for you!

They're not perfect yet (we're working on a ton of things), but we want to give you early access:

If you're a Pro subscriber and you're on iOS, you can download the beta version of the app via this link (works for both iPhones & iPads). As you will see, you will need to download a simple testing app (TestFlight) in order to access Langua.

If you’re a Pro subscriber and you have an Android phone (i.e. not Apple), you can download the beta version of the app here.

Please make sure you click Log In, rather than attempting to sign up - you need to use your existing Pro account. Please ignore the Google/Apple login options as you will need to use your existing login.

Important: 1) If you use an Apple device, ensure you are on the latest iOS - there is a recording bug on certain older models. 2) We will be making improvements every 3-7 days during December, so check for updated versions. You can also turn on automatic updates.

The apps are not on the app stores yet. You have early access. If you are not a Pro subscriber, you will need to get a subscription via the website first as we haven't yet added payment processing in the apps.

The apps currently offer Langua’s main tool: conversation practice, and all associated features (translate and save vocab, feedback report, etc.)

Remember, this is only the first version of the apps - we’re currently working on some bugs, plus improving lots of small things that together make a big difference. We're also building the flashcards section - you’ll need to use the web version for flashcards until mid December. Podcasts and AI stories may come to the apps next year (undecided).

P.S. If you want to continue using the web version on your mobile, you can also add it to your home screen on your mobile, making it easy to access like an app. This will help you remember to practice. Here’s how to do this in just a few seconds:

If you have an Android phone:

1) open Google Chrome and go to the page on Langua you want to pin to your home screen.

2) in the top right, next to the bar with the website URL, you’ll see three dots in a vertical line. Click those dots and select Add to Home Screen.

3) Tap Add. If your home screen is already full, you may find Langua doesn’t end up there. You can move an app you don’t use often, and drag Langua there to replace it 😀

If you have an iPhone or iPad:

1) open Safari (or Chrome) and go to the page on Langua you want to pin to your home screen.

2) in the top right, next to the bar with the website URL, you should see an icon like the one circled in red below. Click it and select Add to Home Screen.

3) Tap Add. If your home screen is already full, you may find Langua doesn’t end up there. You can move an app you don’t use often, and drag Langua there to replace it. 😎

Want to use Langua like an app on your laptop?

If you are using Google Chrome, there's a simple way to access Langua easily without having to search for the right page each time:

1) Go to the page you want to start on (e.g. the page where you choose a conversation)

2) Click the three vertical dots below the 'X' button in the top right.

3) Scroll down to 'cast, save and share' or similar. Select 'Install page as app'. Confirm install via the button that'll pop up towards the top of the browser.

4) Go back to Chrome and search this in the search bar: chrome://apps

5) Right click on LanguaTalk. You can then opt for it to open when your device starts up, and/or add a shortcut to your desktop or start menu.
