Does Langua have a mobile app?

Yes, and it has several advantages over the web version:

1) You'll avoid browser and device compatibility issues that can interfere with audio and recording (especially on Apple devices).

2) The interface is adapted for mobile devices and tablets.

3) You can start conversations in a couple of clicks.

4) You can opt into practice reminders so you don't forget and lose progress.

Apple users: You can find the iOS app here. If you instead search on the app store, be aware there is another app with the same name. Ours has a red logo. Check you're on the latest iOS to avoid issues.

For everyone else, you can find the Android app here.

We make improvements every 5-10 days, so check for updated versions regularly. You can also turn on automatic updates.

If you are learning Chinese, please note that the app does not yet have Pinyin, whereas the website does.

The app currently focuses on what has made Langua so popular: the conversational AI that enables learners to speak, whilst being supported by features like translations, instant corrections, flashcards, feedback reports, audio summaries, etc. The only downside is it doesn't yet have every feature available on web e.g. podcast player.

If you're not sure whether to purchase via the website or the app, note that:

  • Discount codes can only be applied on the website. Web subscriptions can also be used to access the mobile apps.
  • The web version and Android app have our 30-day guarantee (on top of the free trial), whereas Apple does not allow us the ability to send refunds so we cannot offer our guarantee if you subscribe there.

If you have a MacBook and prefer to use it rather than mobile/tablet, we've heard that the iOS app seems to work reasonably well on certain MacBooks despite not being specifically designed for it. It works on MacBooks with Apple silicon (M1 or later) running macOS 12.0 or later.

P.S. If you want to continue using the web version on your mobile, you can also add it to your home screen on your mobile, making it easy to access like an app. This will help you remember to practice. Here’s how to do this in just a few seconds:

If you have an Android phone:

1) open Google Chrome and go to the page on Langua you want to pin to your home screen.

2) in the top right, next to the bar with the website URL, you’ll see three dots in a vertical line. Click those dots and select Add to Home Screen.

3) Tap Add. If your home screen is already full, you may find Langua doesn’t end up there. You can move an app you don’t use often, and drag Langua there to replace it 😀

If you have an iPhone or iPad:

1) open Safari (or Chrome) and go to the page on Langua you want to pin to your home screen.

2) in the top right, next to the bar with the website URL, you should see an icon like the one circled in red below. Click it and select Add to Home Screen.

3) Tap Add. If your home screen is already full, you may find Langua doesn’t end up there. You can move an app you don’t use often, and drag Langua there to replace it. 😎

Want to use Langua like an app on your laptop?

If you are using Google Chrome, there's a simple way to access Langua easily without having to search for the right page each time:

1) Go to the page you want to start on (e.g. the page where you choose a conversation)

2) Click the three vertical dots below the 'X' button in the top right.

3) Scroll down to 'cast, save and share' or similar. Select 'Install page as app'. Confirm install via the button that'll pop up towards the top of the browser.

4) Go back to Chrome and search this in the search bar: chrome://apps

5) Right click on LanguaTalk. You can then opt for it to open when your device starts up, and/or add a shortcut to your desktop or start menu.
