How does tagging work on Langua?
Tags can be used to filter vocabulary. When a filter is applied, it will also apply when you start a flashcards exercise. This means tags can be used to tailor your practice.
We automatically tag certain items:
- 3-4 word items are tagged as phrases
- 5+ word items are tagged as sentences
We are effectively guessing the item type based on the number of words. We don’t auto-tag 2 words as a phrase as it will often be a word and its article e.g. ‘una cosa’. And we don't auto-tag single words.
Saved words created via the ‘generate’ button are automatically tagged with the topic you entered.
Sentences that use your saved words (created via the ‘generate’ button) are tagged with ‘context sentence’.
You can also manually add and edit tags. To edit a tag, first click the pencil icon next to the vocab item. To edit in bulk, you can tick the boxes next to multiple items on the Vocab/Flashcards page, then click Update Tags. You can add multiple tags for a given item. Ensure you separate them with commas.
Lastly, you can also edit the tags themselves by filtering to the tag you want to edit and clicking the pencil icon next to it.
